A Week of Trials and Tribulations; I Win, though!

It was quite an eventful week. I had myself all geared up to do the interview with APPLYTAIWAN, which I set up for Tuesday. 16th of June at 3pm. I inadvertently had changed the time to Japan/Korea time. Only 1 problem with that; those time zones are 1 hour ahead of Taiwan. I logged on and of course no-one was there. It took me about 20 minutes and I googled the 'bible' and it told me the time difference. Oh well! Shit happens!

I saw this beauty as I was walking along side the river here in Wenshan District. I walked about 7km in about 90 minutes. I saw some great wildlife and some awesome greenery.

I went to downtown Taipei on Monday and walked around the whole area for about 2 hours. Saw all kinds of awesome buildings including Taipei City Hall and a bunch of  ritzy malls and shops. It is quite affluent downtown and even the cars are all high end. I even saw a Bentley pulled over on the road. Of course, Taipei 101 is always quite a site to see. It used to be the tallest building in the world many years ago. It is still a beautiful looking building and has a lot of cultural engineering to it.

It has been raining constantly since I have been here; June 2nd.
It has been a mix of hot weather then rain. Rain then hot weather and the cycle continues. I am quite enjoying it, but the amount of clothes that you go through because of the humidity is unbelievable. Even some days, it is a two or three shower day!
Check out this wicked night light that I saw under the table at my friend's house last week. One of the coolest ones I have seen in a while.

I am still learning the process of authenticating all my documents while I am here in Taiwan. Taiwan is not a member of the Hague Convention as due to that, all my relevant documents need to be sent back to Canada and verified by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office. I am going to have to go through a few hoops to get it done but will start next week with getting a verified copy stamped by the relevant office here in Taiwan. That way I don't have to send my original BA back to Canada. The rest such as my criminal check, my OCT licence, copy of passport and transcripts from university all have to be sent to the TECO office in Toronto by Fedex etc and then returned with the authentication seals and stamps. Never mind the money but also the amount of  time it will take, I have no idea about. Oh well, just more stuff to learn about and get comfortable with. I thought when I lived in London, Ontario that I would have had to go to the TECO office in Ottawa, which is like a 7 hour drive away. The only thing I got done while I was in London, was my RCMP check, which I think I can still use when I send my package back to the TECO office in Toronto. I also found out that they will accept a etranscript, which TECO replied about yesterday.

I am starting a new chapter in my life and just decided that whatever gets thrown in the mix, to just persevere and gain the knowledge and patience to succeed. I am still loving it here.
My personal weight loss is still in full effect. I am trying to lose it slowly. About 1 pound a week. I am still eating well.
My feet are destroyed from all the walking and use of transit, but I am loving it.
Blogging everyday was a little bit too ambitious but I will try and make sure to keep blogging consistently. Those of you that are in my Facebook contacts, check out some of the stuff I put on there, too. Especially the videos this week of the rain we had on Thursday.
